Tides are caused mainly by:
THE GRAVITATIONAL PULL OF THE MOON
1. At any one time there are 2 places with high tides and 2 places with low tides on Earth
2. As Earth rotates, there is one high tide on the side of the Earth facing the moon
and one high tide on the opposite side of Earth.
3. Low tides occur between the two high tides.
4. The tides are approximately 6 hours apart.
Spring Tides: Sun, Earth and Moon in a straight line
